Drop-in Meditation Group—Summer Sit (Via ZOOM)

Drop-in on yourself for a visit. You may not have seen yourself for awhile.

Visits with ‘family' can get gnarly though and staying with things as they are can be rough at times. We are then left with options such as leaving in a cloud of dust, drinking copiously or the classic withdrawal into a sulk. Or we just avoid visiting altogether.

2500 years ago a guy named Buddha got it. “Life is suffering” he is said to have said. The Pali word he used, ‘dukkha’, was actually more akin to “dissatisfaction” or “stress”. (Click here to learn more fun facts about ‘dukkha’.)

By just learning to be present, he said, we can travel through all of this in the First Class section. Yes, there is still turbulence, but you’re so much more comfortable while going through it.

Yehhhh, ‘Be present’, just like that. Riggght.

But Dr. B. did not leave us high and dry. He left articulate teachings on how to reach this point of non-suffering-or enlightenment. It’s a practice and a learnable skill. Check it out if you haven’t. Or check back in if you have already and checked out for awhile.

This one hour Drop-in Meditation Group consists of a brief talk, a twenty minute guided practice and a Q&A. All levels are welcome.

It’s Summer—a great season to meditate!

The next Zoom Sit will be on Monday, August 16th from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm.

You must register by August 14th to receive the Zoom link for the 16th. (Prior links will not work.)

There is no set fee but I am introducing the concept of Dana, a long-held tradition in Buddhism. Dana is an appreciative giving from the heart. (Click here to learn more about Dana.)

Dana offerings can be sent to me at Zelle (pamelathorp.gps@gmail.com) OR Venmo to (Pamela Thorp@pamela-thorp).

Meditating in a group (or a sangha) is a beautiful way to practice. It’s great to do it with buddies!

Onward to your next moment!
