THE DHARMA for PSYCHOTHERAPISTS:

Crash Course in Vipassana (Insight Oriented) Meditation & Mindfulness

Were The Buddha living today he may well be a psychotherapist. He brought a practice to the world that taught a better way to move through life’s vicissitudes. The teachings promote development of present moment awareness; shift negative, counterproductive belief patterns; grow resilience; facilitate neural integration and normalize the inevitable joys, sorrows, triumphs and tragedies of life.

This 4 session mini-course will provide the participant with immediately usable tools (called skillful means) to begin or enhance their own sitting practice, as well as deliver teachings that bring The Dharma into the larger context of today’s world. Metta (Loving Kindness) Practice, a nuanced and oft misunderstood concept, will also be taught.

Sessions will include ample in vivo practice exercises and allow time for discussion of common ‘Hindrances’ that frequently show up. We will also look at ways to appropriately integrate concepts from The Dharma into a clinical treatment model.

One needn’t become ‘A Buddhist’ to benefit from the teachings, which can bring more balance, equanimity and healing to our own, and our patient’s lives.
